LG Chem will invest more than $3 billion to build a battery cathode plant in Tennessee to meet high demand in North America. This is one of the first major EV investments from a South Korean company in the United States since The Inflation Reduction Act was passed in August. The United States has a very ambitious plan – to phase out sales of commercial vehicles with internal combustion engines by 2040, the US energy secretary agreed at the COP27 climate summit in Egypt on Thursday. That means in just 17 years there will be no new school buses, trucks, delivery vans or tractor trailers with internal combustion engines. Tesla announced the recall of more than 321,000 vehicles in the United States due to occasional taillights not turning on.
