Ford Motor has launched its latest driver-assist software update, BlueCruise 1.5, adding hands-free automatic lane changes and enhanced highway navigation features. The new version is available only on newly built 2025 vehicles equipped with upgraded driver assistance hardware, starting with the Mustang Mach-E GT and Rally trims. The upgraded BlueCruise 1.5 allows vehicles to autonomously change lanes without driver-initiated signaling—an enhancement over previous versions that required input from the signal stalk. Ford estimates that the new system could automate up to 45% of lane changes in typical highway driving. Beyond lane changes, BlueCruise 1.5 introduces improvements in lane centering, better…
Electric car registrations in Norway surged in June, driven by Tesla’s Model Y, which accounted for more than a quarter of all new vehicles sold, according to figures released by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (OFV). A total of 17,799 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) were registered last month, representing 96.9% of the 18,376 new passenger cars sold. The number marks a significant increase from June 2024, when electric cars made up 80% of the market. Compared to May 2025, EV registrations were up by 4,415 units. The Tesla Model Y dominated the rankings with 5,004 new registrations, making up 27.2%…
Chinese automaker Geely said on Wednesday it will introduce its Geely-branded vehicles in the United Kingdom for the first time, beginning with the all-electric EX5 SUV. The model is scheduled to go on sale in the fourth quarter as the company expands its global EV footprint. The EX5 will lead Geely’s UK entry and serve as the first in a line-up of electric vehicles tailored to local market expectations. The company noted the model is currently undergoing final adjustments. “The EX5, which is still undergoing intensive development work to meet British car buyers’ standards, will be the first in a…
Honda has postponed the launch of its planned next-generation hydrogen fuel cell module production facility in Japan, citing changes in global hydrogen market conditions. The delay includes a reduction in initial production capacity and withdrawal from a government subsidy program tied to production benchmarks. The automaker had originally intended to begin operations at the facility in Moka City, Tochigi, by the end of the fiscal year 2028, with an annual output target of 30,000 fuel cell modules. The factory was to be located on the site of Honda’s former Powertrain Unit Factory and would have formed a central part of…

Li, also known as Li Shufu, will remain on the board and continues to serve as chair of Volvo Cars. “Her appointment as chair of the board is a natural progression, enabling her to…
A lithium-ion battery plant being developed by Indonesia Battery Corp (IBC) and China’s Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd (CATL) is expected to begin operations by the end of 2026 with an initial capacity of 6.9 gigawatt hours, an Indonesian government official said on Sunday. The facility, located in West Java, forms part of a $6 billion agreement signed in 2022 that also includes Indonesian state miner Aneka Tambang and other consortium members. The broader project spans the entire battery value chain—from nickel mining and processing to electric vehicle (EV) battery production and recycling. Energy ministry spokeswoman Dwi Anggia said the…
Tesla has surpassed 70,000 Supercharger stalls worldwide, marking a new milestone in the company’s continued push to scale electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure. The achievement coincided with the opening of a new 12-stall V3 Supercharger station in Burleson, Texas, according to the automaker. The company reached the 70,000 mark just nine months after it celebrated its 60,000th stall installation in Japan in October 2024. Tesla’s pace of expansion has quickened significantly, with over 10,000 new stalls added since then—equivalent to nearly 30 new installations per day on average. https://twitter.com/TeslaCharging/status/1938644804239544539 Tesla’s Supercharger network, launched in 2012 with just six U.S. locations, now…
Inceptio Technology has become a member of the Autoware Foundation, an open-source alliance focused on accelerating the development of autonomous driving systems. The move signals the Chinese autonomous trucking company’s intention to support global efforts to develop scalable, production-ready solutions for logistics. Inceptio said its participation will focus on contributing real-world commercial data and technological expertise from its own autonomous driving systems. The company’s platform has already surpassed 200 million kilometers of commercial operations, and it partners with vehicle manufacturers to integrate its autonomous systems into series production trucks. “Our extensive experience in series production and insight from the world’s…
Tesla has denied reports that it hired former Cruise Head of Autonomy Henry Kuang to lead its AI and deep learning efforts for autonomous driving. The company confirmed the claims circulating online and in several media outlets were false. Reports earlier today suggested that Kuang had been appointed as Tesla’s new Director of AI and Deep Learning for Autonomous Driving. The rumor gained traction after a LinkedIn profile appeared to show Kuang taking on the new role at Tesla. However, the profile has since been removed, and the company has clarified that no such hire occurred. Tesla’s Head of Autopilot…
High-power charging network operator Ionity has applied for more than €6 million in funding under Spain’s Moves III programme to support the construction of over 20 new ultra-rapid charging stations across the country, targeting underserved regions and bolstering long-distance electric vehicle (EV) travel. Each planned station will include an average of six high-power charge points, capable of delivering up to 350 kW, enabling EVs to recover hundreds of kilometres of range in just 15 to 20 minutes. The rollout spans over ten Autonomous Communities, with Ionity intentionally selecting areas with low EV penetration or sparse charging infrastructure. “The new charging…
Estonia-based charge point operator Eleport is accelerating its European expansion with a strategic push into Croatia and Slovenia, supported by a new partnership with software provider Ampeco and a major infrastructure rollout across the Balkans and Central Europe. As part of the plan, Eleport will launch a new unified charging app in partnership with Ampeco in summer 2025, starting in Croatia. The app will offer search tools, flexible pricing, session summaries, and a consistent user experience across borders. Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis is preparing a major product push in 2026, aiming to launch five new models, though only one – the GV90 – will be fully electric. The strategy marks a shift from the brand’s previous commitment to transition exclusively to battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) starting in 2025. According to local media reports, Genesis will supplement the GV90 launch with multiple hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV), reflecting broader market demand for diversified powertrain options. The move also indicates a pause on Genesis’ earlier roadmap, announced in 2021, which had called for all new models…
