French leasing and mobility provider Ayvens has introduced a new electric vehicle charging service, Ayvens Power, built on a white-label platform from Berlin-based Plugsurfing, as the company seeks to expand its digital offerings for fleet customers across Europe. The service launches initially in the Netherlands, where drivers can access more than one million public charging points across the continent through a dedicated mobile application. Ayvens said the rollout will extend to Germany, France, Italy, Belgium and the United Kingdom later this year. Ayvens and Plugsurfing first announced their partnership in September. The platform provides roaming access to a wide network…
U.S. student transportation provider Zūm will deploy the largest fully electric school bus fleet with vehicle-to-grid (V2G) capability in the northeastern United States for Branford Public Schools in Connecticut, the company said. The fleet, scheduled to begin service in the 2026–27 school year, will also mark Zūm’s first all-electric bus depot on the East Coast. The project will enable the school district to complete its transition to electric buses within two years—three years ahead of the original timeline under a 10-year transportation contract signed in 2024. Bidirectional charging infrastructure will allow buses to supply stored electricity back to the local…
Kempower has partnered with mobility provider Aimo to deploy public fast-charging infrastructure at SkiStar Lindvallen in Sälen, Sweden, marking the first such installation at the popular ski destination. The site is operated by Aimo Charge, which manages EV charging networks across Sweden, Norway, and Finland. Located near the Experium complex and key resort amenities, the facility includes four Kempower Satellite DC charging points, each capable of delivering up to 150 kW. The chargers are intended to allow visitors to recharge quickly during daytime activities rather than relying on overnight charging. See also: Kempower Installs 28 DC Charging Points at Amsterdam…
UK charge point operator Be.EV has acquired the public electric vehicle charging network of Mer in the United Kingdom, significantly expanding its presence across the country. The transaction adds more than 1,600 charging bays at over 450 locations, bringing Be.EV’s total network to more than 2,500 bays across more than 680 sites nationwide. The company said the acquired infrastructure will be fully integrated into its platform, while existing users will retain access to the chargers under Be.EV’s pricing structure. Be.EV plans to extend its subscription tariff of 39 pence per kilowatt-hour nationwide, along with off-peak pricing between 7 p.m. and…
Portuguese charging infrastructure manufacturer i-charging has introduced MAX, a high-power electric vehicle charging platform capable of delivering up to 1.6 megawatts to as many as eight vehicles simultaneously. The system is designed for large public charging hubs, fleet depots and logistics facilities where mixed vehicle types require scalable, high-capacity energy supply. Initial contracted deliveries are scheduled for the third quarter of 2026, the company said. MAX uses a modular architecture that allows operators to expand capacity in 50-kilowatt increments, enabling installations to grow alongside demand rather than requiring full system replacement. Traditional high-power installations typically lock in power capacity and…
Ubitricity, a subsidiary of Shell, has announced plans to acquire the SureCharge public charging network from FM Conway, adding approximately 2,400 electric vehicle charge points across London. The charging points are integrated into residential street lampposts and deliver charging speeds of around 4.8 kW, targeting overnight and curbside charging for urban residents without off-street parking. The transition began in early February 2026, with all units expected to be rebranded under the Shell Recharge network within two months. Electrify America said it expanded its electric vehicle charging network in 2025, surpassing 5,600 chargers across North America while upgrading more than 1,100 units to next-generation technology. The company said its latest DC fast chargers can deliver up to 350 kW and that two large-format stations featuring more than 20 chargers each were opened in California during the year. Electrify America reiterated that it is investing a total of $2 billion in zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) infrastructure. WattEV has expanded its electric truck charging depot in San Bernardino, California, more than doubling capacity at what the company describes as its busiest location as demand for zero-emission freight operations increases across Southern California. The upgrade lifts the site’s total installed charging capacity to 11.5 megawatts and enables the depot to charge up to 200 battery-electric trucks per day, bringing utilisation levels closer to those of a conventional diesel truck stop, the company said. The United States’ fast-charging network expanded by more than 30% in 2025, adding over 18,000 new charging ports, according to data from charging analytics firm Paren, underscoring rapid infrastructure growth even amid policy uncertainty over federal funding. Paren said the expansion lifted the number of public fast-charging stations in the country to more than 13,200 by the end of the year, marking one of the strongest annual growth rates on record for high-power charging infrastructure. The increase comes as automakers and charging operators push to address range anxiety and improve access for a growing number of electric vehicle drivers. See…
Ionity said it has opened what it describes as its most urban charging site in the UK to date, launching a new fast-charging hub in Birmingham as part of a strategic shift toward denser city locations. The site, located on the A4540 at South Aston near Birmingham New Street station, offers 12 ultra-rapid chargers with charging speeds of up to 400 kilowatts. Ionity said the hub operates exclusively on renewable energy and is designed to serve both local drivers and those travelling through the city. Electric vehicle drivers prefer simple payment options such as Plug & Charge and direct ad-hoc payments at public charging stations, but are often forced to rely on apps and charging cards because of limited availability and high roaming fees, according to new research from USCALE. The Charging Payment Study 2026, which surveyed 1,510 EV drivers in Germany, found a wide gap between preferred and actual payment behaviour, despite significant improvements in vehicle range and charging infrastructure over the past decade. The findings suggest that payment complexity has emerged as a persistent pain point for EV users. See also: Cold Weather,…
Fastned has announced a new bond issuance in the Netherlands and Belgium as the Dutch fast-charging network operator looks to co-finance the capital-intensive expansion of its electric vehicle charging infrastructure across Europe. The move follows three bond rounds in 2024 and 2025, which together raised €192 million, the company said. To date, Fastned has repaid €45 million in bonds, while investors have agreed to extend €77 million worth of bonds beyond their original maturity.
