Southern California Edison (SCE), a major electric utility company based in California, plans to integrate over 280 Chevrolet Silverado EV work trucks into its fleet. This initiative supports SCE’s broader strategy to reduce fleet emissions and ownership costs while advancing its electrification goals.

The Chevrolet Silverado EV is engineered to meet demanding utility service needs, making it a suitable addition to SCE’s operations. While specific details about the model are limited, the trucks may include the newly launched 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV, which boasts an EPA-estimated range of 492 miles (792 kilometers). Sandor Piszar, Vice President of GM Envolve, highlighted the benefits of the Silverado EV WT, stating, “The Silverado EV WT combines the performance and reliability commercial customers expect with the benefits and low cost of ownership of electric propulsion.”

SCE’s long-term vision includes transitioning its entire light-duty fleet to electric vehicles while aiming to electrify 30% of its medium-duty vehicles and pickup trucks and 8% of its heavy-duty trucks. Todd Carlson, Principal Manager of Fleet for SCE, emphasized the significance of the deployment, noting, “The deployment represents a pivotal step in SCE’s commitment to electrify our fleet and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.”

General Motors, through its Silverado EV WT, is collaborating with companies like SCE to support fleet transformations and contribute to sustainability efforts. Piszar expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We are excited to help innovative customers like Southern California Edison to meet their electrification goals with the Chevrolet Silverado EV WT as part of their fleet transformation.”
