Kia Motors is gearing up for the U.S. launch of its updated 2025 EV6, an all-electric crossover that first debuted in 2021 on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform. The upgraded EV6 was recently seen testing on U.S. roads, showcasing new design updates as Kia aims to maintain its position in a competitive EV market.

While the EV6 gained initial traction for its bold design and range capabilities, newer models have intensified competition, leading to a double-digit dip in sales for three consecutive months in the U.S., although year-to-date sales are up by 8%.

The 2025 model sports a refreshed look, with Kia’s distinctive LED daytime running lights as part of its signature design—seen in other recent models like the EV9 and EV3.

According to a report, Kia is also boosting the EV6’s battery capacity to 84 kWh, up from the previous 77.4 kWh. This increase extends the range to approximately 307 miles (494 km) on a single charge, according to estimates from its Korean launch. European models are now rated up to 361 miles (582 km) WLTP.

A Kia spokesperson noted that the latest design “will provide an enhanced experience for our customers,” underscoring the brand’s aim to draw more interest with faster charging and improved range. The automaker expects the North American launch of the refreshed EV6 by the end of 2024, with detailed pricing and specifications to be announced closer to that date.

The refreshed EV6 is expected to compete with recent models from Ford, Tesla, and other EV manufacturers in a rapidly evolving market. For now, Kia has introduced promotional pricing on the 2024 EV6, including a $179 per month lease offer on the Light Long Range trim, to clear inventory in anticipation of the updated version.
