General Motors (GM) has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regarding reports of poor phone call quality in its recently launched all-electric Chevy Blazer EV. The issue, which affects Bluetooth-connected calls, could impact all 2024 and 2025 models.
According to the GM memo, some drivers have reported that while sound quality is adequate for the person inside the vehicle, it can be muted or muffled for the call’s recipient. GM attributes the issue to a potential backward installation of the microphone, which may prevent sound from properly reaching the device due to misaligned microphone holes.
Owners experiencing this problem are encouraged to visit their local dealership, where technicians can correct the microphone orientation.
The Blazer EV, which was launched as part of GM’s wider push for electric vehicles, includes several trim options with expanded range and lower prices for 2025 models. The base front-wheel-drive (FWD) model will be available later this year, priced at $45,995, while the all-wheel-drive (AWD) version starts at $48,995 and offers up to 300 miles of range.
All new Blazer EV models are eligible for a $7,500 federal tax credit. Further details on the FWD and SS trims are expected in the coming months.
