General Motors announced that it is ready to introduce electric Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) namely the Chevrolet Equinox and Blazer which will launch in 2023.

Alongside the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV, the announcements of the Equinox EV and Blazer EV are an important part of General Motors electric car strategy for 2023, with three new models joining the Bolt and Bolt EUV.

Like the Chevrolet Silverado EV, the Equinox EV and Blazer EV will be based on General Motor’s scalable Ultium platform, featuring a floor-mounted battery in a modular skateboard-style architecture.

The Chevrolet Equinox EV will be a new model, unlike an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) car. The new electric car is billed as an “affordable and functional compact SUV”.

Along with the announcement, several renderings of the Chevrolet Equinox EV were released to preview the new car. The sleek silhouette looks sportier than the ICE model when driving closer to the ground. This car will Start at around $30,000

The interior shows a cabin dominated by a wide-screen panel in the middle, but with a fairly conventional button layout, hinting that changes to the production-ready model will be minimal.

It was also revealed that fleet and retail versions will be available, as well as LT and RS trims. However, the technical specifications have not yet been released.

“Chevrolet Equinox has always played an important role for Chevrolet as the second highest selling brand nameplate,” said Steve Hill, Vice President of Chevrolet.
