On September 24, the Luxeed R7 officially launched, marking the latest entry into the electric vehicle market from Luxeed, a brand co-developed by Chery and Huawei.
Built around Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) ecosystem, the Luxeed R7 offers a mix of technology, performance, and luxury, aimed at competing with top electric SUVs.
The pre-sales for the R7 began on September 10, but the official launch revealed an additional fourth variant, offering more choices for consumers. Prices for the R7 range from 259,800 to 339,800 yuan (36,950 – 48,300 USD), with the following versions available:
- RWD 82 kWh Pro: 259,800 yuan (36,950 USD)
- RWD 82 kWh Max: 299,800 yuan (42,650 USD)
- RWD 100 kWh Max: 319,800 yuan (45,500 USD)
- AWD 100 kWh Ultra: 339,800 yuan (48,300 USD)
The Luxeed R7 is a large SUV coupe, measuring 4956 mm in length, 1981 mm in width, and 1634 mm in height, with a 2950 mm wheelbase, making it even larger than the BMW X6.
Designed with an enclosed grille and unique headlights, the R7 has a drag coefficient of 0.219, the lowest for any mass-produced SUV. Buyers can choose from six exterior colors, including Ceramic White, Gilded Black, and Phantom Purple. The R7 also features standard 20-inch wheels, with an option for 21-inch wheels, and optional Brembo red brake calipers for a sporty appearance.
Underneath, the Luxeed R7 is built for performance and control. Its Tuling chassis uses intelligent vehicle state perception (iVSE) to handle various terrains, including off-road conditions.
The R7 is equipped with Huawei’s advanced Qiankun ADS 3.0 system in its Pro model, while the Max and Ultra versions include Huawei Lidar units for enhanced autonomous driving capabilities. The R7’s dual-motor AWD version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds, while its range spans from 667 km to 802 km, depending on the battery size. Additionally, the 800V high-voltage platform allows rapid charging, adding 400 km of range in just 15 minutes.
Inside, the Luxeed R7 offers a luxurious cabin with yacht-inspired design. Buyers can select from four interior color schemes, including White Sand Apricot and Truffle Brown. The dashboard features a 12.3-inch LCD instrument panel and a 15.6-inch infotainment screen.
Other standout features include a 1000W 17-speaker sound system, a zero-gravity driver’s seat, and an 8.2-liter fridge in the center console. With a total trunk space of 837 liters, expandable to 2130 liters, and an additional 52-liter frunk, the Luxeed R7 offers plenty of practicality alongside its high-tech features and stylish design.
