Jungheinrich has introduced its next-generation EFG MB and EFG MC electric counterbalance forklifts to the Asia-Pacific market, expanding its material-handling portfolio with models designed for different warehouse, logistics and industrial applications.
The new forklifts are part of the company’s EFG M series, which offers load capacities ranging from 1.6 to 3.0 tonnes. The lineup includes a three-wheel configuration for operations requiring greater manoeuvrability and a four-wheel version designed for heavier handling tasks and improved stability.
Two Configurations Cover Different Handling Requirements
The three-wheel EFG MB is available with load capacities between 1.6 and 2.0 tonnes, targeting warehouse environments where operating space and manoeuvrability are important considerations.
The four-wheel EFG MC covers the 2.0 to 3.0-tonne segment, providing stability and control for indoor and outdoor material transport and stacking. Both configurations offer lifting heights of up to 6,500 mm, according to Jungheinrich.
Lisa Jing Xue, Managing Director of Jungheinrich’s Qingpu Plant near Shanghai, said the series was developed to accommodate different operational requirements.
“Different operations have different requirements. With the EFG M series, customers can configure the truck around their application, workload and operators – whether they need greater manoeuvrability for confined warehouse spaces or a stable, powerful truck for demanding transport and stacking work,”
Xue also highlighted the company’s customer research behind the product development.
“We carried out extensive customer research to understand what the market needs. Customers can invest in the performance required today and add further capabilities as their application demands,” she added.
Performance Packages and Battery Options
The EFG M series is available with two performance configurations. The efficiencyPLUS package is designed to balance operating performance and energy consumption for routine material-handling activities, while drive&liftPLUS provides higher driving and lifting performance for applications involving greater throughput.
Jungheinrich includes drive&liftPLUS as standard on models with load capacities of 2.5 to 3.0 tonnes.
For energy storage, customers in Asia-Pacific can select either lead-acid or lithium-ion batteries, with capacities ranging from 346 to 690 Ah. The available configurations are intended to accommodate different operating intensities and shift schedules.
The forklifts also incorporate energy recovery during braking. Jungheinrich says this system can reduce energy costs by up to 30% per shift while helping extend operating time.
Service Support Across Asia-Pacific
Jungheinrich is positioning its service network as part of the EFG M series offering. The company has more than 6,100 trained customer service technicians globally, supported by genuine spare parts and product-specific maintenance expertise.
Madhukar Kaissary, Senior Director of Customer Service at Jungheinrich APAC, said the use of established components and integrated vehicle data would support maintenance and parts availability.
“Every EFG M truck is backed by Jungheinrich’s global team of more than 6,100 trained customer service technicians, supported by genuine Jungheinrich parts and product-specific expertise. Because the series uses proven Jungheinrich components and integrated truck data, we can support faster parts supply and more effective maintenance planning,”
The EFG M series forms the core of Jungheinrich’s electric counterbalance forklift portfolio in Asia-Pacific. It sits alongside the company’s AntOn range, intended for straightforward and value-focused applications, and its FalcOn technology platform for future heavy-duty electric material handling.
Jungheinrich Continues Investment in Industrial Electrification
The Asia-Pacific launch comes as Jungheinrich pursues broader electrification initiatives across its industrial equipment and service operations.
The manufacturer has recently started practical trials of sodium-ion batteries in industrial trucks with selected customers. The programme is intended to evaluate the technology’s performance and reliability under different operating conditions.
Jungheinrich is also working to electrify its global customer service fleet. The company aims to have more than 3,500 electric service vehicles by 2030, representing approximately half of its group-wide fleet.
The EFG M series adds another product option to this wider transition, giving Asia-Pacific customers electric forklift configurations tailored to different load capacities, operating environments and energy requirements.
