Tesla announced on Tuesday that it is recalling most Cybertrucks in the United States due to problems with their windshield wipers and exterior trim.
The recall affects more than 11,000 vehicles and represents another setback for the futuristic truck, whose mass production is slated to begin next year. Tesla has not disclosed how many Cybertrucks it has delivered to consumers in its quarterly deliveries and production report.

The Blade Runner-inspired truck, which Tesla began delivering in November 2023 after years of delay and production challenges, is now facing issues with its windshield wiper motor controller and trunk bed trim sail applique. The recalls, which cover more than 70% of all units produced, are the latest in a series of quality problems for the model.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Tesla has issued four recalls for the 2024 Cybertruck. The wiper motor recall affects 11,688 vehicles from the 2024 model year, with Tesla citing a risk of non-functioning wipers increasing the risk of a crash in wet weather. The company will replace the wiper motor for affected vehicles, which were built through June 6.

Additionally, Tesla is recalling 11,383 Cybertrucks due to issues with the trunk bed trim sail applique, which could become loose and pose a road hazard. The company’s service team will apply an adhesion promoter and pressure-sensitive tape or replace the trim free of charge for affected vehicles.
While most issues related to Tesla recalls are typically resolved through over-the-air software updates, the latest problems with the Cybertruck require physical repairs. Tesla’s handling of these recalls will be closely watched as it navigates the challenges of mass-producing its highly anticipated electric truck.
