Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC) has announced that the first model jointly developed with Chinese tech giant Huawei is anticipated to be introduced to the market next year.
In a New Year’s message, JAC revealed that it has entered into a comprehensive strategic partnership with Huawei to create a luxury smart internet-connected electric vehicle (EV), slated for release in 2025.
While JAC did not disclose further details regarding the new model, it indirectly refuted a timeline reported by a local media outlet at the end of last month.
According to a January 31 report by Yicai, the inaugural collaborative model between Huawei and JAC will not be a Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) as previously rumored, but rather a sedan.
The sedan, expected to be priced at the RMB 1 million ($140,000) level, is positioned to compete with the BMW 7-Series and is projected to be available for purchase in the fourth quarter of 2024, as per the report.
Construction activities for the production plant of this model, situated in Feixi, Anhui province, are reportedly nearing completion.

JAC had previously announced on December 1 that it had reached an agreement with Huawei to collaborate on various aspects including product development, manufacturing, sales, and services based on Huawei’s smart car solutions.
The objective of this partnership is to develop luxury smart internet-connected EVs that cater to the needs and preferences of users, as stated by JAC at the time of the agreement.
Product development for the collaborative models will be overseen by JAC, which aims to establish an advanced production facility utilizing its expertise in the manufacturing sector, as outlined in the December announcement by the company.

Huawei has already forged partnerships with several automotive companies such as Seres Group and Chery for the production of vehicles within the automotive sector.
