Xpeng X9 Electric MPV Specifications: Price, Range and Dimensions

Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Xpeng has officially introduced its first Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) model, the X9, designed to target the family car market with its emphasis on spacious interiors, high safety standards, and smart driving capabilities.

Unveiled at a launch event in Guangzhou, the X9 is priced at RMB 359,800 ($50,680) for the base model, with additional versions priced at RMB 379,800, RMB 399,800, and RMB 419,800. The starting price is notably RMB 28,200 lower than the pre-sale price of RMB 388,000, a strategy commonly used by Chinese EV manufacturers.

Xpeng revealed that deliveries of the X9 will commence later this month, and the vehicle will come equipped with smart driving features upon delivery.

The X9 has already garnered over 5,000 firm orders, indicating strong early demand, as reported on Weibo during the launch event.

Key features of the X9 include two Pro versions, both single-motor models with CLTC ranges of 610 kilometers and 702 kilometers, respectively. Additionally, two Max versions are offered, including a single-motor version with a CLTC range of 702 kilometers and a dual-motor four-wheel drive version with a CLTC range of 640 kilometers.

The Max version distinguishes itself with two LiDARs, enabling the use of the XNGP (Navigation Guided Pilot) full-scenario assisted driving feature. The Pro version, lacking LiDARs, is limited to highway NGP capability and other features such as assisted parking.

Built on Xpeng’s SEPA (Smart Electric Platform Architecture) 2.0, the X9 is positioned as a high-value family car in the RMB 350,000 class. It targets users in the RMB 300,000 to RMB 400,000 range, offering a practical and cost-effective option.

Key specifications include an 800 V high-voltage platform, a 3C fast-charging battery cell providing up to 300 kilometers of range on a 10-minute charge, and a four-wheel-drive version capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.7 seconds.

Xpeng emphasizes the safety of the X9, highlighting its industry-first front and rear unibody aluminum die-cast structure with a maximum die-casting force of 12,000 tons, resulting in a torsional stiffness of 46,000 Nm/deg.

Measuring 5,293 mm in length, 1,988 mm in width, and 1,785 mm in height, the X9 features a wheelbase of 3,160 mm. Its agility is enhanced with rear-wheel steering, and it boasts a turning diameter of 10.8 meters, the smallest in its class.

The X9’s large interior space includes 2,554 L of trunk space with the third-row seats down, accommodating four adult bicycles or 29 20-inch suitcases. With seven people seated, the trunk can accommodate seven 24-inch suitcases.
