Tesla has broadened access to its charging infrastructure in China, allowing other brands of electric vehicles (EVs) to utilize its charging stations. The move follows a pilot program initiated in April, and to date, over 350 Supercharger stations and 260 destination charging stations in the Chinese mainland are open to non-Tesla EVs, as confirmed by the company.

Initially, on April 24, Tesla launched a pilot program opening 10 Supercharger stations and 120 destination charging stations to 37 non-Tesla EV models. In the recent expansion, the number of charging stations accessible to non-Tesla vehicles has increased, accompanied by a slight expansion in the range of models able to use Tesla’s charging network.

According to Tesla’s Chinese website, 38 models from 30 different brands, including Nio, Xpeng, BYD, Hiphi, Aion, and WM Motor, can now access Tesla’s charging network in China.

Tesla, which boasts over 1,800 Supercharger stations and more than 11,000 Superchargers in China, also maintains over 700 destination charging stations with more than 2,000 charging piles.

However, it’s important to note that non-Tesla EV drivers are subject to a higher charging price when using Tesla chargers. The pricing structure for non-Tesla vehicles includes an additional fee, covering Tesla’s investment in supporting a wider range of vehicle models and adapting charging stations to accommodate those vehicles.
