In a strategic move that reflects the burgeoning electric vehicle (EV) market, Zeekr has set its sights on a substantial sales increase by 2025, seeking to achieve nearly tenfold growth compared to its 2022 figures. The prominent automaker, a subsidiary of Geely, has unveiled plans to introduce a range of mass-market-oriented models over the next two years.
With aspirations of reaching an annual sales target of 650,000 units by 2025, Zeekr’s CEO, Andy An, conveyed this ambition in an official statement following Geely’s recent announcement of its first-half financial results. Meanwhile, Geely has maintained its 2023 sales projection at 1.65 million units, including 140,000 units attributed to the Zeekr brand.
In the preceding year, Zeekr achieved the delivery of 71,941 vehicles. However, the company’s trajectory toward its 2025 objectives necessitates a sales growth rate exceeding 100 percent in both the upcoming years.
To materialize these ambitious goals, Zeekr is poised to intensify its efforts in launching models that resonate with the mass market’s demands. Among its existing offerings, the Zeekr 001 shooting brake, Zeekr 001 MPV, and Zeekr X city SUV cater to niche segments within the Chinese market.
Zeekr’s strategy involves unveiling two new models annually, strategically catering to distinct market segments, as emphasized by An. In the pipeline is a new sedan anticipated to be launched by year-end, accompanied by two new SUV models scheduled for introduction next year.
While Zeekr’s initial trio of models targeted niche markets, the forthcoming three additions will encompass mainstream segments, thereby fueling the projected sales escalation.
An underscored Zeekr’s unwavering commitment to the battery electric vehicle (BEV) segment, with no immediate plans to introduce hybrid models. This choice runs counter to a trend observed among certain EV manufacturers, who have introduced hybrid options to alleviate sales growth pressures.
Looking beyond domestic borders, An indicated Zeekr’s intention to bolster its international presence. The automaker is poised to expand its footprint to six foreign countries by the following year and aims to reach a presence in eight nations by 2025.
