Ford has stopped taking F-150 Lightning EV reservations after taking nearly 200,000 orders as it prepares to open its order bank for pickup trucks next month.
Ford CEO Jim Farley told Automotive News this week that the automaker had received nearly 200,000 orders for the electric pickup truck.
Reservations holders were also told they would be able to start placing orders in January, but some may not be fulfilled until after the 2022 model year, according to the Ford Authority.
Ford hasn’t said how many Lightnings it will build initially, though it plans to increase to an annual rate of 80,000 by 2024, the vehicle’s second full year of production.
The F-150 Lightning is available in several trims with prices ranging from just under $40,000 to just over $90,000, while two battery sizes will be offered with an estimated range of 230 miles and 300 miles per charge.
