Automotive enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting the launch of the Polestar 5, and now they have a chance to get a glimpse of the electric vehicle (EV) as Polestar showcases its latest “verification prototype” at the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Drawing inspiration from the acclaimed Precept concept, the Polestar 5 prototype appears virtually ready for production. The front end boasts split lighting units and a subtly revised bumper with angular accents, exuding a sleek and modern appeal. Moving lower, observers can spot a small intake and a more pronounced splitter, adding a touch of aggression to the design.
Significant updates are visible beyond the A-pillar, where the prototype flaunts larger and more conventional door handles. These are complemented by traditional side mirrors, chunky side skirts, and a fresh charging port door, which all contribute to the overall refinement of the vehicle’s profile.
While the rear of the Polestar 5 remains faithful to the original concept, discernible changes include a slightly modified liftgate and bumper. Horizontal reflectors and a redesigned diffuser enhance the visual appeal, ensuring a striking presence on the road.
Polestar has remained tight-lipped about specific details regarding the prototype. However, earlier announcements by the company shed some light on what to expect from the “electric 4-door GT.” The Polestar 5 will boast a dual-motor all-wheel drive system, targeting an impressive output of 872 horsepower (650 kW / 884 PS) and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque. Furthermore, the EV will feature an 800V architecture and incorporate an advanced driver assistance system utilizing state-of-the-art Luminar LiDAR technology.
As the launch date approaches, more information is bound to emerge. What we do know is that the Polestar 5 will ride on a bonded aluminum chassis, promising exceptional dynamics that match its captivating design. Polestar has also hinted at the incorporation of lightweight materials to create a truly extraordinary driving experience, ensuring that the Polestar 5 will be a driver’s car in every sense of the word.
