Electrify America has announced its latest complimentary charging program, available for electric vehicle (EV) owners. Future owners of Hyundai’s upcoming IONIQ 6 model will receive two years of free 30-minute charging sessions on the network, which offers speeds up to 350 kW, perfect for the car’s 800V e-GMP platform.
With over 800 charging stations and approximately 3,500 chargers, Electrify America operates the largest fast-charging network in North America. It is investing over $2 billion in EV infrastructure to expand its footprint, consumer education, and charger access.
Electrify America also supports its customers by offering complimentary charging on holidays such as Earth Day, and free charging sessions for new EV owners with various automakers, including Hyundai with the Kona Electric and IONIQ 5.
Now, Electrify America is expanding its free charging partnership with Hyundai by adding two years of sessions for owners of the upcoming IONIQ 6 streamliner EV. Hyundai IONIQ 6 owners will be able to take advantage of two years of unlimited 30-minute sessions from their date of purchase.
IONIQ 6 owners will be among the few EV drivers who can take advantage of the 350 kW charge speeds that certain Electrify America DC fast chargers can provide, thanks to Hyundai’s 800V e-GMP platform. Olabisi Boyle, Hyundai Motor North America’s VP of product planning and mobility strategy, said that the company’s investment in the 800V e-GMP platform that enables DC fast charging aligned with customer research that indicated fast charging (10-80% in 18 mins) and high AER (361 miles) were expected.
The IONIQ 6, with its best-in-class and ultra-fast charging, allows Hyundai’s customers to enjoy a fun EV driving experience, and the extended partnership with Electrify America continues to provide customers with convenient and complimentary access to the fastest charging, especially on long-distance trips.
Hyundai shared initial pricing for the IONIQ 6 in late February ahead of its official launch in the US this spring. Stay tuned for a full report on the all-electric streamliner after our test drive in Arizona this week.
