Jidu Auto, a subsidiary of Baidu, has launched its second model of AI-powered robotic car called ROBO-02 at the Guangzhou auto show. The sedan, which shares many design features with the ROBO-01 SUV, including the absence of traditional door handles, can be accessed through either voice commands or Bluetooth.
While the car is primarily designed for autonomous driving and machine interaction, Jidu has not revealed any performance numbers. It is expected that the ROBO-02 will have similar powertrains to the ROBO-01, including dual motors with a combined output of 400 kW and a 100 kWh CATL battery.
The ROBO-02, which is expected to be equipped with the same motor and battery as the ROBO-01, may have improved acceleration and range due to its lower drag as a sedan compared to the ROBO-01 SUV.
However, it is expected to be some time before the Jidu duo is ready for the road and there may be changes before then. The ROBO-01 is set to be available for purchase in 2023, although it is not yet clear when in the year it will be released.
