The NIO EC7 is set to become a new electric SUV coupe that will block the arrival of the Audi Q8 Sportback e-Tron.
Now to face rivals from Europe, NIO has equipped the NIO EC7 electric car with various advantages.
One of the advantages possessed by the NIO EC7 is its elegant and aerodynamic body design. Starting from the front, NIO EC7 brings the latest NIO design language so that it looks the same as ES8 or ES7.
Distinctive characteristics of the NIO’s design language are the grille panels with sharp DRLs and headlights that resemble air vents.
In addition, on the roof there are three ‘horns’ that hide the LIDAR sensor for the semi-autonomous NIO Autonomous Driving feature.
But instead of having a boxy body silhouette typical of an SUV, the NIO EC7 has a sloping roof like a coupe sedan.
Not only is the roof sloping, the NIO EC7 is the only NIO car that has retractable wings.
NIO said that the sloping roof and wings could improve aerodynamic performance and reduce wind resistance
NIO also claims that the EC7 is an SUV with the lowest drag coefficient in the world at 0.23 Cd.
This figure is lower than the Audi Q8 Sportback e-tron which has a drag coefficient of 0.24 Cd. Of course one of the positive values of the NIO EC7’s aerodynamic body is the longer mileage.
With a 150 kWh battery, the NIO EC7 is claimed to have a range of 940 kilometers according to China Light-Duty Vehicles Test Cycle (CLTC) standards.
The Nio EC7 SUV fills the mid-large SUV gap with a coupe design. Its performance comes from a combination of a powerful 300 kW induction motor and a 180 kWh permanent magnet motor that offers wild power while maintaining power efficiency. The EC7 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.
The EC7 uses PanoCinema digital cockcpit technology which carries AI NOMI technology. The quality sound produced by these two cars comes from the Dolby Atmos sound system, ambient light, and 12. inch AMOLED screen as the center of the setting. Nio also provides AR and VR touch to provide a digital space experience for passengers.
Nio EC7 will be offered in three variants depending on battery capacity. The 75 kWh battery variant is offered at 488,000 RMB, the 100 kWh variant is offered at 546,000 RMB and the BaaS (Battery as Service) variant at 418,000 RMB. Estimated to be present in May 2023 in China.
