Tesla is recalling some Model Ys from 2022 due to minor issues with the crash detection system and front passenger airbags.
The problem stems from the front bumper carrier structure which can affect vehicle crash detection during certain low speed accidents.
This has the potential to make the airbags for the front passengers inflate incorrectly. While this is a safety issue, it is not a life-threatening issue.
Tesla is recalling certain 2022 Model Ys to fix the air bag because it may deploy incorrectly.

The solution to this problem is a simple simple repair of the front bumper carrier structure. Model Ys affected by this recall can have repairs performed at any Tesla Service Center for free. This recall only affects some vehicles.
Affected Model Y owners will receive a notification letter from Tesla on September 19.
This is the seventh recall for Tesla in 2022. The fix is the first not a simple over-the-air software update.
It is not yet known whether this recall was due to a production or parts issue. In addition, Tesla did not announce the number of vehicles affected by the recall, whether production at Giga Austin or Fremont.
