Cadillac recently revealed a sneak peek of the Celestiq’s original look and confirmed the Celestiq’s debut on July 22.
The Celestiq is the Cadillac flagship that Cadillac fans have been waiting for for decades, and recent photos suggest the Celestiq will be a hatchback.
The Cadillac Celestiq follows the same design language as the Cadillac Lyriq 2023, but is more expressive. However, the version that will be shown on July 22 is a concept, so the production version, which will be released in late 2023, may be different from what it looks like today.
The Celestiq itself uses General Motors’ Ultium platform which is specifically for electric vehicles and will not be a regular production model. Celestiq will mostly be made by hand. Since it is handmade, production of the Celestiq will be limited to 1.2 cars per day, meaning the annual production volume will be well below 500 units and is rumored to be priced at $300,000.
In terms of performance, GM’s Ultium platform is claimed to be capable of producing an output of 1,000 hp as in the 2022 GMC Hummer EV, and will offer a range of up to 400 miles in the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV.
The Celestiq will also be packed with high-tech gadgets such as a four-panel glass roof that will allow drivers and passengers to set the transparency level individually. There will also be a wide-dash digital display with active elements that can darken parts of the screen to help prevent driver distraction.
The Celestiq is also confirmed to be the first recipient of GM’s upcoming Ultra Cruise autonomous driver assistance feature, which the automaker says will handle 95% of roads in the United States.
Like the current Super Cruise system, Ultra Cruise will still ask the driver to monitor everything at all times and take action if needed. This means the car will still rank at Level 2 on the SAE scale for self-driving capabilities.
