General Motors (GM) is reportedly evaluating the Wuling Bingo Pro as the basis for a new entry-level Chevrolet electric vehicle (EV) aimed at emerging markets.
According to automotive publication GM Authority, citing people familiar with the matter, the U.S. automaker is considering rebadging the all-electric Wuling Bingo Pro under the Chevrolet brand for sale in markets including Mexico and Brazil.
Affordable EV for Emerging Markets
The report said GM could license the model through SAIC-GM-Wuling, its joint venture with SAIC Motor, as part of its strategy to expand affordable electric vehicle offerings.
Demand for compact zero-emission vehicles has been growing across emerging markets, including Mexico, Brazil and other regions in Latin America, Africa and Asia, where smaller vehicles remain popular among urban drivers and first-time buyers.
If introduced, the rebadged model would become Chevrolet’s first all-electric hatchback in several of those markets.
Based on China’s Wuling Bingo Pro
SAIC-GM-Wuling launched the Wuling Bingo lineup in China in 2023, targeting the country’s affordable EV segment.
The Bingo Pro entered the Chinese market in May 2026 with prices ranging from 56,800 yuan (about $8,390) to 70,800 yuan.
The model is offered with two China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) driving range options of 330 kilometers and 403 kilometers.
Power comes from a front-mounted electric motor producing 65 kW (87 hp), paired with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack.
According to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), the Bingo Pro recorded wholesale sales of 21,085 units in June.
Existing Rebadging Strategy
GM has previously adapted vehicles developed by SAIC-GM-Wuling for overseas markets.
These include the Chevrolet Spark EUV, based on the Baojun Yep Plus, and the Chevrolet Captiva EV, which is derived from the Wuling Starlight S.
According to the report, if the Bingo Pro moves forward, it is expected to receive styling revisions and a different model name before being introduced under the Chevrolet brand.
