Nissan Motor has announced that it has received no new orders in the US for the Ariya electric SUV due to the extraordinary popularity of the vehicle.
The order book for the Nissan Ariya in the US is full and first deliveries of the electric SUV will begin later this year. The news has been confirmed by the landing page on Nissan’s website.
The company’s CEO Ashwani Gupta said the idea of stopping orders for the Ariya electric SUV was because the company didn’t want its customers to keep waiting to get their electric rides.
“Every customer wants to have it, and we don’t want customers to wait… Ariya has been successfully accepted around the world, even in the United States, we had to request our customers to stop the orders.” Gupta told Automotive news.
Regarding the termination of this order, Nissan did not disclose the total orders that have been entered. But rumors say that the total will be less than 10,000 units.

Nissan has started assembling the Ariya at its Tochigi assembly plant in Tokyo. In fact, as many as 1,500 Ariya units have been handed over to customers. However, supply chain problems have hampered the increase in production.
Nissan is not the first automaker to stop orders for their electric vehicles. Previously, Ford stopped taking orders for the F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck before the delivery process even started.
