Volkswagen has opened order books for the new ID. Cross in Germany, with the electric crossover initially available in a single 155 kW front-wheel-drive configuration paired with a 52 kWh battery.
Taking into account Volkswagen’s current purchase incentive, prices start at €34,025, while the previously announced entry-level model priced from €27,995 is expected to become available from mid-October.
Initial Launch Focuses on Higher-Spec Models
The ID. Cross Life has a list price of €36,525, which falls to €34,025 after Volkswagen’s current €2,500 purchase incentive.
The better-equipped Style trim is priced at €39,110, or €35,610 after a €3,500 purchase incentive.
The lower-priced Trend variant, which Volkswagen unveiled alongside the model last week, is not yet available to order. According to the online configurator, sales of the entry-level version are expected to begin in mid-October.
Volkswagen has not indicated whether the Trend model will also qualify for a purchase incentive. The comparable entry-level version of the related ID. Polo is currently excluded from the company’s incentive programme.
Up to 427 km WLTP Range
At launch, the ID. Cross is offered exclusively with Volkswagen’s most powerful announced drivetrain.
The 155 kW front-wheel-drive model uses an NMC battery with 52 kWh of usable capacity, delivering a WLTP driving range of up to 427 kilometres.
Volkswagen quotes energy consumption of 14.3–16.9 kWh per 100 kilometres, while DC fast charging reaches up to 105 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in 24 minutes.
The crossover accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 7.1 seconds and has a top speed of 160 km/h.
Additional Variants Planned
Volkswagen plans to expand the range later with 85 kW and 99 kW versions.
Both models will use a 37 kWh LFP battery supporting DC charging of up to 90 kW.
The 85 kW variant is expected to offer a driving range of around 316 kilometres, while Volkswagen has yet to disclose range figures for the 99 kW version.
The company lists a 27-minute charging time from 10% to 80% for the smaller battery, compared with 23 minutes quoted for the related ID. Polo and Cupra Raval, despite the vehicles sharing the same battery capacity.
Standard Equipment
The Life trim includes 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, dual-zone climate control, a 10.3-inch driver display, a 12.9-inch central touchscreen, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping and blind-spot assist systems, parking sensors and a rear-view camera.
The Style version adds Matrix LED headlights, keyless entry, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.
Lower-Priced Models Due in October
The ID. Cross is built on Volkswagen’s updated MEB+ platform and is closely related to the ID. Polo, although it is positioned as a compact electric SUV above its hatchback sibling.
Measuring 4.15 metres in length, the ID. Cross is around 10 centimetres longer and 5 centimetres taller than the ID. Polo.
While the ID. Polo starts from €24,995, Volkswagen has announced a starting price of €27,995 for the entry-level ID. Cross. That version, however, will not become available until October, when the company expands the range with the Trend trim and lower-powered drivetrain options.
