McFarlane Telfer has placed an order for 20 new Farizon Auto SV electric vans to support its nationwide team of service engineers as the company transitions toward electric light commercial vehicles.
The vans, supplied by Heathrow Van Centre, are the SV L1H1 83 kWh variant from Farizon’s all-electric commercial vehicle lineup.
Each vehicle will be fitted with bespoke racking systems supplied and installed by Van Racking Solutions and will be used by MCFT’s catering and refrigeration engineers for maintenance and repair visits, as well as equipment deliveries to commercial kitchens across the UK.
MCFT said it trialled the Farizon SV against three competing electric vans from established manufacturers over a one-month evaluation period involving engineers at four different locations.
The assessment focused on load space, versatility, driving range and ease of use, with the Farizon SV reportedly outperforming rival models across multiple criteria.
David Meacock, Group Director of Engineering at MCFT, said: “As the market begins to transition to eLCVs, our new fleet of all-electric Farizon SV vans will not only enhance the efficiency and reliability of our service operations, but also reflect our commitment to equipping our engineers with the best tools for the job.”
The Farizon SV L1H1 offers 6.95 cubic metres of cargo space, a maximum payload of 1,265 kilograms and a loading height of 550 mm.
Combined with the 83 kWh battery pack, the van delivers a WLTP combined driving range of up to 234 miles, while charging from 20% to 80% takes approximately 36 minutes.
George Smith, Fleet Manager at MCFT, said the company’s engineers can drive up to 25,000 miles annually, making vehicle range a critical consideration for fleet electrification.
“Factor in the cost savings we’ll be able to make, the SV’s impressive payload and high spec levels, and it’s clear this is the right solution for us,” Smith said.
Farizon Auto UK General Manager Calum James said the company is seeing increasing demand from fleet operators seeking lower operating costs and improved sustainability credentials.
“We’re in the latter stages of closing several more deals like this, reflecting the rapidly growing interest we’re seeing from fleets as they look to reduce costs, operate with greater sustainability credentials, and benefit from improved capability,” James said. “On all fronts, the SV delivers.”
