Ford Motor said use of its BlueCruise hands-free highway driving system rose sharply in 2025, with Ford and Lincoln drivers logging 88% more hands-free miles than a year earlier as demand for advanced driver assistance features continued to grow.
The automaker said the total number of BlueCruise trips increased by 50% year on year, while its global fleet of BlueCruise-equipped vehicles expanded to more than 1.22 million units after Ford added about 500,000 vehicles in 2025.

Ford’s F-150 pickup remained the highest-usage model for the system. Owners of the truck logged 118 million BlueCruise miles during the year, a 101% increase from 2024, and spent 1.6 million hours driving hands-free on controlled-access highways. F-150 Lightning owners alone accounted for more than 32 million miles, up 60% from the previous year.
Growth was also driven by Ford’s luxury brand Lincoln, where the Nautilus SUV recorded the fastest increase in usage. Lincoln Nautilus drivers logged 11.3 million miles and nearly 160,000 hours using BlueCruise in 2025, representing an increase of almost 250%, which Ford attributed to software upgrades and broader availability.

The data reflects rising consumer interest in hands-free driving. A 2025 study by AutoPacific found that 43% of prospective new vehicle buyers ranked hands-free highway driving as the feature they most wanted in a new car.
BlueCruise is now offered across nine Ford and Lincoln vehicle lines, including the Explorer, Expedition, F-150, F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E and the full Lincoln lineup. Ford began shipping 2025 model-year F-150 and F-150 Lightning vehicles with BlueCruise 1.4 software as standard and rolled out over-the-air updates to existing owners.

While short trips still made up the majority of BlueCruise use, longer journeys increased rapidly. Ford said road trips lasting more than one hour rose 120% to 1.6 million trips in 2025. Holiday travel drove peak usage, with the Friday before Thanksgiving emerging as the busiest single day of the year.

Geographically, California remained Ford’s largest BlueCruise market for the third consecutive year, with drivers logging more than 23 million miles, followed by Michigan, Texas, Florida and Ohio.
Ford said drivers worldwide have now logged more than 600 million miles using BlueCruise since the system was introduced. Looking ahead, the company plans to expand BlueCruise to four additional vehicle lines in Europe in 2026 and to introduce BlueCruise 1.5 software with automatic lane change capability on the 2026 Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator and Lincoln Nautilus.
