BYD has just announced a bulk order from VEMO, Mexico’s largest new energy transport operator. VEMO purchased 1,000 D1 from BYD, with 200 of them already operating locally in Mexico.
This BYD D1 will be used to set up an electric taxi fleet which will create more than 3,000 new jobs.
The BYD D1 uses a BYD blade battery, with a range of up to 418 kilometers. The back door is a slip door. This door design makes it easier for passengers in the back row to enter and exit. The BYD D1 has a spacious and comfortable rear space for passengers.

āThe BYD D1 fleet helps the platform to operate efficiently, improves the utilization rate of charging infrastructure, and enhances our competitiveness in the industry. It also promotes the development of the new energy industry. This fleet could reduce 20,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions locally each year, equivalent to planting 1 million trees.ā said Alejandro Rosette, co-director of VEMO Transportation Platform
In the Chinese market, the BYD D1 starts at 157,800 yuan ($24,176). In China, BYD sells the D1 model for the online ride-hailing industry.

The BYD D1 uses a front-drive motor with 100kW of power and 180 Nm of peak torque. The battery used uses a lithium iron phosphate blade with a capacity of 53.6 kWh.
The BYD D1 comes with the latest features such as ABS anti-lock braking, braking force distribution, brake assist, traction control and body stability system. Auxiliary and control configurations include rear parking radar, reverse image, auto park, grade assist and other functions.
