IM Motors, the electric vehicle subsidiary of SAIC Motor, posted record monthly sales of 13,577 units in November, extending a three-month run of deliveries above 10,000 vehicles as demand strengthened following its shift toward range-extended powertrain technology.
Sales at the brand have climbed sharply since it began prioritising extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) alongside its battery-electric offerings. IM Motors currently markets a lineup that includes the IM L6 and L7 sedans, as well as the LS6 and LS7 sport utility vehicles.

The IM L6, launched in May as a mid-to-large premium battery-electric sedan, is offered in four trim levels with a starting price of 219,900 yuan ($30,700), while early promotional pricing lowered the entry point to 204,900 yuan. The model is built on an 800-volt high-voltage platform and features the company’s proprietary digital chassis system and a four-wheel steering setup capable of a tight 4.69-metre turning radius.
Performance variants of the L6 use silicon carbide-based electric motors, with the Ultra version delivering up to 579 kilowatts of output and peak torque of 800 newton-metres. Lower trims offer outputs ranging from 245 kW to 300 kW.

IM Motors has accelerated its push into extended-range models in recent months. Last month, the company launched the IM LS9, a large six-seat extended-range SUV aimed at China’s high-end EV market. The LS9 is offered in 52 Ultra and 66 Ultra versions priced at 322,800 yuan and 352,800 yuan, respectively, both reduced by 14,000 yuan from pre-sale levels. Deliveries are scheduled to begin later this month, with a high-performance LS9 Hyper variant planned for the first quarter of 2026.
In September, IM Motors also introduced an updated version of its LS6 SUV, adding extended-range variants alongside existing battery-electric options. The revised LS6 was the first model to adopt the company’s Hengxing EREV system, paired with CATL’s Freevoy Super Hybrid Battery, which is designed to deliver longer driving range through a larger battery than conventional EREV systems.

IM Motors has said that while its battery-electric strategy remained its primary focus in the first half of the year, the second half would see a faster rollout of extended-range models. The Hengxing system features a 66 kilowatt-hour battery dedicated to extended-range driving, supporting a CLTC-rated pure-electric range of more than 450 kilometres and 800-volt ultra-fast charging capability.
