Leasing specialist Arval has partnered with navigation firm Chargetrip to deploy an EV route planner for more than 300,000 electric fleet vehicles across Europe, the company said.
The new Arval Route Planner, powered by Chargetrip’s routing engine, is already available in Belgium, France and Austria, with Romania to follow “shortly”. Additional markets including Hungary, Germany, Slovakia and the Czech Republic will be added by the end of 2025, with further expansion planned in 2026.

Arval said the system aims to improve the long-distance charging experience for fleet drivers, many of whom operate electric vehicles without built-in smart route planning. Some company cars lack EV-optimised navigation or navigation systems altogether, creating uncertainty for drivers unfamiliar with electric mobility. The browser-based planner is integrated into Arval’s customer platform, My Arval.
Like other specialised tools such as A Better Routeplanner, Chargetrip’s system requires users to select their vehicle model and input details including initial battery charge, desired charge level at destination, number of passengers, use of air conditioning and extra weight. The engine then calculates an optimised route using real-time factors such as weather conditions, terrain and charging-station availability.

However, the browser-based version lacks vehicle telematics, meaning real-time battery status and consumption deviations cannot be automatically factored into route updates. Charging-stop guidance must be followed manually through apps such as Google Maps or Apple Maps after exporting the calculated route.
“With our new Route Planner, drivers can plan smarter, charge efficiently, and stay connected to Arval’s preferred networks,” said Ingrid Pautrat, Director of EV Offers at Arval. Chargetrip CEO Gideon van Dijk said the partnership aligns with the company’s goal “to make energy-aware routing accessible to every driver in Europe.”
