DHL Express has announced the rollout of 45 new all-electric Mercedes-Benz eSprinter vans into its U.S. pickup and delivery fleet. The move marks the first U.S. expansion of the global partnership between DHL and Mercedes-Benz, with more than 10,000 eSprinters already integrated into DHL’s operations worldwide.
All vehicles are expected to be delivered by the end of October 2025 and will serve key metropolitan markets including Chicago, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Elizabeth, and Moonachie, New Jersey.

While the eSprinter offers a rated range of 206 miles, DHL has consistently recorded results exceeding 240 miles in operational testing, making them the longest-range battery-electric vehicles in DHL’s U.S. fleet to date. The vans also deliver significant cargo capacity, enabling efficient last-mile delivery without compromising payload or reliability.
To support the rollout, DHL has installed dedicated charging infrastructure at its facilities in each of these markets. This allows drivers to conveniently recharge between routes, maximizing uptime and ensuring operational efficiency.
“Electrifying our fleet is one of the most visible and impactful ways we are moving toward a more sustainable future,” said Greg Hewitt, CEO of DHL Express U.S. “The Mercedes-Benz eSprinter brings an extended range and proven cargo capabilities that allow us to serve our customers with zero emissions, while also advancing our global goal of more sustainable logistics. These vehicles not only strengthen our operations in major U.S. cities but also set the stage for future electric fleet growth across the Americas.”

Jee-Seop Kim, Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz Vans North America, emphasized the vehicle’s role in advancing commercial electrification. “The eSprinter represents the next generation of electric mobility for commercial fleets – combining range, cargo capacity, and reliability in a way that meets the demands of modern logistics,” he said. “We’re proud to see our partnership with DHL Express expand into the U.S., where the eSprinter’s performance and versatility will support their high-efficiency operations.”
The initiative supports DHL’s global Sustainability Roadmap, which aims to electrify 66% of its last-mile delivery fleet by 2030. This broader strategy also includes developing carbon-neutral facilities and increasing the use of sustainable aviation fuels. The addition of the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter vans highlights DHL’s continued commitment to sustainable urban logistics and its focus on delivering efficient, reliable, and environmentally responsible services to customers across the United States.
