DHL Group will add 2,400 additional electric vans from Ford Pro to its delivery fleet in Germany by the end of this year, the companies announced, expanding a partnership that supports DHL’s e-mobility strategy. With many of the vehicles already in operation, DHL released an interim review citing favorable performance and user satisfaction.
“In our Post & Parcel Germany division, we are receiving very positive feedback from our delivery personnel regarding Ford’s electric vehicles,” said Nikola Hagleitner, Board Member for Post & Parcel Germany at DHL Group. “Together, we are making a significant contribution to making parcel and postal delivery in Germany more sustainable.”
DHL currently operates 4,900 electric vans from Ford Pro and will soon manage nearly 35,000 EVs in total, maintaining what it says is the largest electric delivery fleet in Germany. The new batch includes Ford’s E-Transit and E-Transit Custom models. The larger E-Transit offers a load volume of 18 cubic metres and is equipped with either a 68 kWh or 89 kWh battery. The smaller E-Transit Custom has a 6.8 cubic metre capacity and a 64 kWh battery, with both models optimized for different delivery scenarios, from dense urban routes to rural areas.
Claudia Vogt, Director of Ford Pro for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, stated: “We are proud to support Deutsche Post and DHL in electrifying their fleet with Europe’s most successful electric vans. This further expands our strategic partnership, which goes beyond just vehicle delivery. By providing not only our E-Transit models but also our Ford Pro ecosystem of smart software and service offerings, we increase the uptime and productivity of the DHL fleet.”
