ITS Logistics has announced the launch of its Battery Logistics Hubs network, a new infrastructure initiative designed to support the complex logistics of lithium-ion batteries and the growing electric vehicle (EV) industry across North America.
The company said the network provides flexible, scalable, and compliance-ready distribution and transportation solutions tailored to the needs of battery manufacturers and Tier 1 automakers. The hubs are located in Indianapolis and Dallas, chosen to offer national geographic diversity and enable efficient coverage across the U.S.

“The EV transition is accelerating, but the industry is facing headwinds that could cause significant demand fluctuation,” said Kasia Wenker, Vice President of Solutions Engineering at ITS Logistics. “Flexibility to scale with demand while maintaining operational excellence is key to mitigating risk.”
The company noted that lithium-ion batteries—classified as hazardous materials—require strict compliance with DOT and IMDG regulations during transit and adherence to NFPA 855 and FM Global standards in storage. Variations in battery chemistry and state-of-charge create additional challenges for logistics providers.

To address these complexities, ITS Logistics said its new hubs operate as multi-tenant, campus-style facilities with specialized fire suppression and environmental monitoring systems, extensively trained hazmat-certified staff, and FTZ-ready spaces for imports and assembly operations. The network also integrates hazmat-certified transportation services across road, intermodal, and drayage channels.
Wenker added that the Battery Logistics Hubs provide manufacturers and suppliers the agility to scale operations safely and efficiently amid market volatility, supporting both growth cycles and industry corrections.
