General Motors has issued a service update addressing the rear lower control arms on certain GMC Sierra EV pickup trucks, citing improperly torqued bolts in the suspension. The update, identified as N252507500, applies to 2025 model-year vehicles.
The automaker said the condition, if not corrected, could affect suspension performance and rear wheel alignment. Some units of the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ, which shares the BT1 platform with the Sierra EV, may also require the same repair. Both models are assembled at GM’s Factory Zero facility in Michigan.
Dealers are instructed to perform a rear wheel alignment and retighten four control arm bolts to 369 foot-pounds (500 Nm). The repair does not involve replacement parts but requires a high-capacity torque wrench. The update covers customer-owned vehicles and dealer inventory, including new, used, and certified pre-owned units. GM said affected vehicles should not be delivered until the work is completed.
The service campaign will remain active until September 30, 2027. GM said owners are not expected to make special service visits, as the fix can be applied during scheduled maintenance. Separately, some Sierra EV owners have reported dashboard warnings such as “Reduced Acceleration” and “Propulsion Power Reduced Due to Temperature,” which the company attributed to battery management systems designed to protect the pack under extreme conditions.
