Suzuki Motor Corporation said on Tuesday it will begin sales of the E Vitara, its first global battery electric vehicle (BEV), in Japan on January 16, 2026.
The E Vitara, first unveiled in Milan in November 2024 and later displayed at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in India this year, is based on Suzuki’s eVX concept model and built on the newly developed HEARTECT-e platform designed specifically for BEVs. The automaker describes the model as an “Emotional Versatile Cruiser,” combining advanced electric technology with the strength of an SUV.
Equipped with a lithium iron-phosphate battery for enhanced safety and reliability, the E Vitara features nimble acceleration from a standstill and sharp overtaking performance, Suzuki said. The vehicle also debuts the “ALLGRIP-e” electric four-wheel-drive system, which aims to balance on-road handling with off-road capability.
Measuring 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height, with a 2,700 mm wheelbase, the E Vitara is designed with large-diameter tires and a long wheelbase to emphasize SUV robustness.
Inside, the cabin features a dual-screen digital display for instrumentation and infotainment, a three-tone interior, and a mix of physical controls alongside touchscreen functions.
