Fang Cheng Bao, a sub-brand of Chinese automaker BYD, will launch its new Tai 7 hybrid SUV on September 9, according to local media outlet Auto Home. The model will be the second in the brand’s Tai series and its first hybrid SUV built on a unibody frame.
The Tai 7 is expected to be priced between RMB 250,000 ($34,990) and RMB 300,000, overlapping with Fang Cheng Bao’s Bao 5 off-road SUV, which sells for RMB 239,800 to RMB 329,800.
The company began production of the Tai 7 on August 11, and display models have already been delivered to over 300 showrooms across China as of September 1.
The SUV measures 4,999 mm in length, 1,995 mm in width, and 1,865 mm in height, with a 2,920 mm wheelbase. It will be available in both LiDAR-equipped and non-LiDAR versions, featuring BYD’s God’s Eye smart driving system.
The all-wheel-drive long-range version carries a 35.6-kWh battery with a CLTC range of up to 180 km, while the two-wheel-drive standard-range version has a 26.6-kWh battery with a 135 km CLTC range. Combined with a fuel tank, the Tai 7 offers a driving range exceeding 1,300 km.
Fang Cheng Bao was established by BYD in August 2023, debuting its Bao 5 SUV later that year. Its current lineup includes the Bao 5 and Bao 8 hybrid off-road SUVs, as well as the Tai 3 compact SUV launched under the Tai series in December 2024.
