German thermal management specialist technotrans will unveil its new battery thermal management system (BTMS) zeta.trax at this year’s Busworld exhibition in Brussels, the company said on Wednesday. The system, designed for both on-road and off-road vehicles, is cybersecurity-ready and meets regulatory requirements for new type approvals of electric buses.
The zeta.trax system supports direct high-voltage connections of up to 850 volts DC and can optionally be supplied with a low global warming potential (low-GWP) refrigerant. The company said the solution reduces integration costs and complexity for manufacturers, while offering a scalable cooling capacity starting at 6 kW.
“With our new solution, we are taking BTMS to the next level and addressing the core challenges faced by vehicle manufacturers: regulatory compliance, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability,” said Jan Kühne, Business Development Manager at technotrans. “The cybersecurity architecture provides the necessary security for new type approvals. At the same time, we have designed the system to significantly reduce integration effort and costs for our customers.”
In addition to mobile applications, technotrans said it will also present cooling systems for stationary charging infrastructure at Busworld. These systems rely on passive cooling rather than active compression refrigeration, a design the company describes as particularly energy-efficient. Typical applications include power electronics in charging infrastructure.
Technotrans said the zeta.trax BTMS is intended as a future-proof solution, already addressing upcoming legal regulations on cybersecurity and refrigerant standards, while providing manufacturers with flexibility to adapt to varying performance requirements.
