Nissan has launched an updated version of its EV charging app, Nissan Charge, offering users access to more than one million public charge points across Europe through the integration of Octopus Energy’s Electroverse platform. The move aims to simplify and expand electric vehicle (EV) charging for Nissan drivers across the continent.
The Electroverse platform, developed by Octopus Energy, claims to provide access to 80% of public EV chargers across Europe, covering over 40 countries. Major charging networks included in the platform are IONITy, Allego, Aral Pulse, Fastned, and TotalEnergies. The integration means that Nissan Charge users can now utilize Electroverse’s vast network as if they were direct Octopus customers.
“By introducing future-ready features, we’re not only helping drivers connect to Europe’s vast charging network, but we’re also laying the foundation for EVs to play an active role in the energy system of tomorrow,” said Soufiane El Khomri, Director of Nissan Energy. “It aligns perfectly with our electrification journey, from our EV36Zero initiative to the exciting arrival of our next-generation models like the all-new MICRA and LEAF.”
The app offers typical charging features such as real-time charger discovery, dynamic pricing, and seamless payment options via Apple Pay or Google Pay. According to Nissan, the Electroverse adds approximately 500 chargers to its network every day, which can be located using the app’s built-in tools.
Matt Davies, Director of Octopus Electroverse, said this marked a significant first for the company. “By bringing our cutting-edge technology into the Nissan Charge app, we’re delivering the best of Electroverse – simple access to 80% of all chargers across Europe, money-saving discounts, and quick, hassle-free payments,” he said.
