BP Pulse has launched a new electric vehicle (EV) charging hub just three miles from San Francisco International Airport, continuing its expansion of fast-charging infrastructure in partnership with Hertz. The site features 12 ultrafast charging bays capable of delivering up to 400kW, with dual NACS and CCS connectors.
The newly opened facility is designed to serve multiple customer segments, including ride-hail drivers, airport EV renters, and local EV owners. According to BP Pulse, the high-speed chargers offer convenience for high-traffic areas, particularly near airports. “These locations are particularly aimed at ride-hail drivers, providing them with fast and convenient charging on the go – as well as airport EV renters and local EV owners,” the company stated in a Facebook announcement.
Each charging tower is equipped with two charging sockets. While advertised as 400kW units, actual charging power is halved to 200kW per vehicle when both sockets are in use simultaneously.
The launch follows a similar deployment near Boston Logan Airport earlier this year, also developed through the BP Pulse and Hertz partnership. That site offered a promotional launch tariff of $0.36/kWh, although no similar pricing has been confirmed for the San Francisco hub.
BP has previously stated its intent to grow its presence in EV charging across four global markets, with the United States highlighted as a key region. “We expect to see increasing demand for fuels and EV charging in the US and we are integrating to serve customers more efficiently, no matter what they drive,” the company said.
