Circle K has opened its first European electric vehicle (EV)-only charging station in Gothenburg, marking its largest EV charging site globally and the first fossil fuel-free location in Scandinavia.
Located in the Gårda neighbourhood along the Swedish E6 motorway, the new facility includes a 100 square meter convenience store and a high-capacity charging system installed by Kempower. The system features two 600 kW Power Units dynamically distributing electricity across ten individual outlets, each capable of delivering up to 400 kW. This allows ten vehicles to be charged from zero to 80% in approximately 15 minutes while customers shop onsite.
The charging hub also incorporates an enhanced version of Kempower’s autocharge technology, enabling registered users to simply plug in their vehicles to initiate the charging transaction seamlessly.
This Gothenburg site follows Circle K’s recent launch of its largest EV charging hub in Järna, Sweden, which offers 20 high-power chargers for electric cars and six for electric trucks. Circle K’s European network now includes over 3,000 charging points, complementing its global portfolio of 17,000 traditional petrol stations.
