BYD’s premium brand Denza has launched the N9 hybrid SUV, marking its latest push into China’s high-end automotive market.
The large luxury SUV, unveiled at an event in Shenzhen, will be available in two variants priced at RMB 389,800 ($53,770) and RMB 449,800, significantly undercutting the pre-sale range of RMB 450,000 to RMB 550,000 announced in February.

The Denza N9, a six-seat flagship SUV, measures 5,258 mm in length, 2,030 mm in width, and 1,830 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm. It is positioned against competitors such as Li Auto’s Li L9, which starts at RMB 409,800, and Aito’s M9, starting at RMB 469,800.
The SUV is powered by BYD’s e3 technology, a variation of its e4 system for ultra-luxury vehicles. The N9 features three independent electric motors and rear-wheel steering, delivering a total output of 680 kW. The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.

It is equipped with a 2.0 T engine producing 152 kW and a 47-kWh battery pack, providing a CLTC-rated electric range of 200 km. When fully charged and fueled, the total driving range exceeds 1,300 km.
Denza has integrated BYD’s DiSus-A air suspension system and its God’s Eye B smart driving platform, featuring NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) for urban and highway use, valet parking, and automatic parking. The vehicle’s sensor suite includes one LiDAR, five millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 12 cameras.

The launch follows Denza’s introduction of the Z9GT sedan in September, also utilizing e3 technology. The N9 joins the brand’s lineup alongside the N7 SUV and D9 MPV as Denza seeks to expand its footprint in China’s premium automotive segment.
