Ford Motor Co is introducing a new “Phone As Key” feature to the 2026 F-150 Lightning, allowing drivers to unlock, lock, and start their vehicles using only a smartphone, according to a report by Ford Authority. The technology joins a series of updates for the all-electric pickup, including a new STX off-road trim and lower pricing across most models.
The “Phone As Key” Package will be available on select trims and integrated into the FordPass app, offering remote control convenience without the need for a physical key fob.

The feature comes standard on the Lariat trim and is offered as an option on the new STX and Flash trims. Pricing for the optional package has not yet been revealed,
The package also includes the SecuriCode Keyless Entry Keypad and body-color door handles, with the Flash and Lariat trims adding a color-matched tailgate handle for a more cohesive design. The feature expands Ford’s suite of connected vehicle technologies aimed at improving convenience and accessibility.

In addition to the new tech, Ford has dropped the standard-range battery from the Lightning lineup, making the extended-range version — offering 300 miles of range, 536 horsepower, and 775 pound-feet of torque — the default configuration.
Despite the upgrades, prices have been reduced for several trims. The STX starts at $63,345, while the Flash and Lariat are priced at $65,995 and $74,995 respectively, marking cuts of up to $4,000 from 2025 prices. The Platinum trim remains at $84,995.
