Zeekr, a brand under Geely, has unveiled the latest iteration of its Zeekr 001 electric shooting brake in China, with plans for a European release. The revised model, which has already sold over 160,000 units, features significant technical improvements and a more competitive price point compared to its predecessor.
The Zeekr 001 is a luxury-class electric shooting brake based on Geely’s SEA platform. Initially launched in October 2021, the model has undergone slight technological upgrades, including the adoption of the Qilin battery from CATL, featuring the latest generation of cell-to-pack technology. This advancement allows for an impressive energy content of 140 kWh, providing a range of 1,032 kilometers according to the Chinese standard.

A notable enhancement in the revised model is the transition from a 400-volt to an 800-volt system. This change, similar to the 800-volt system introduced in the Zeekr 007 mid-range saloon, improves charging capabilities significantly.
The revised 001 offers two battery options: a 95 kWh Shenxing LFP battery and a 100 kWh Qilin NMC battery. The LFP battery provides a range of up to 675 kilometers, while the NMC battery offers a range of 705 to 750 kilometers, depending on the drive mode.
In terms of performance, the revised 001 is based on the powerful 001 FR, featuring a 310 kW PSM on the rear axle. All-wheel drive models also include a 270 kW ASM on the front axle, resulting in a system output of up to 580 kW.

Visually, the updated 001 adopts some design elements from the sporty FR variant, including more aggressive bumpers, a new rear spoiler, and a roof-mounted lidar sensor. Inside, the model features a steering wheel inspired by the FR, a new instrument cluster, and a revised color scheme.
Despite the enhanced technical specifications, the 001 will be priced lower in China, with base models starting from 269,000 yuan (34,470 euros), compared to a minimum of 300,000 yuan previously. The top variant, the ‘You’ model, is priced at 329,000 yuan (42,160 euros).
The timeline for the revised model’s release in Europe is yet to be confirmed, with deliveries of the 001 in Europe commencing in December 2023. Further expansion into additional markets is planned for 2024.
