The total number of 2023 Cadillac Lyriq EVs shipped within a 30-day timeframe will reach approximately 1,000 units by Friday, February 17th, as production of the vehicle continues. The information was provided by Rory Harvey, Cadillacās global vice-president, during a recent media briefing.
GM produced 8,195 units of the Cadillac Lyriq during the 2022 calendar year, but only 122 of those were delivered through December 31st. Several factors contributed to the low shipment rate in 2022. Among these, most production was back-loaded in the final four months of the year, with significant numbers of the Lyriq only rolling off the assembly line starting in September 2022. Monthly production reached 2,003 units in December, surpassed only by November 2022ās 2,477 units.

GM also says the slow start to production and shipping was part of a deliberate strategy. The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq showed multiple issues during early production, ranging from a recall for a defective display screen that could have potentially increased the risk of crashing to a cracking liftgate panel fix and software configuration issues affecting both lighting and infotainment audio.
The General placed a quality hold on the Cadillac Lyriq that it has now lifted in early January 2023 following correction of the issues. Shipments of the electric vehicle will accelerate from this point forward. GM is shipping units directly to dealers, which will speed up the process of making deliveries. The usual time it takes for a vehicle to be transported from manufacturer to dealership is between 30 and 100 days.

Production of batteries for the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is also currently underway at the new Ultium Cells plant in Warren, Ohio. The facility is being operated by a joint venture partnership between GM and South Korean supplier LG Energy Solution. The increased number of battery packs being made at this new plant will bolster the production ramp-up and shipping for both the Cadillac Lyriq and the GMC Hummer EV.
