184 Ford Mustang Mach-E GTs for New York City Government fleet

The New York City government has just ordered 184 Ford Mustang Mach-E GTs for law enforcement and emergency response purposes.

Previously The New York City Police Department (NYPD) is currently discussing to order of 250 Tesla Model 3 electric cars.

Ford Mustang Mach-E GTs will join the city’s fleet of nearly 30,000 vehicles.

Several departments will get Ford Mustang Mach-E GTs as their fleet including the New York Police Department, New York City Sheriff’s Office, Department of Parks and Recreation, Department of Environmental Protection, and Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Total orders for Ford Mustang Mach-E GTs reached 11 million dollars and will be delivered on June 30, 2022

The Ford Mustang Mach-E GTs have a two-motor all-wheel drive system that produces a combined output of 480 hp (358 kW / 487 PS) and 600 lb-ft (813 Nm) of torque. With these specifications the Ford Mustang Mach-E GTs can accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 3.8 seconds and have a range of 270 miles (435 km) in one go.

In a statement, the Director of the NYC Mayor’s Office of Climate and Sustainability said, ā€œWith today’s announcement, we are ensuring that our law enforcement and patrol vehicles move away from the polluting fuels of the past and toward a greener future. ā€

New York City Sheriff Joseph Fucito said ā€œEnforcement of laws using Electric Vehicles (EV) is a powerful step towards reducing climate-altering greenhouse gases, lowering the risk of respiratory disease, reducing noise, and ending a long-standing dependence on fossil fuels. He added, ā€œProtecting people and the environment at the same time is an important goal for the future of public safety.ā€
