Yutong Bus has successfully completed a battery endurance and mileage challenge, traveling 555 kilometers on a single charge in Australia, underscoring its commitment to advancing green mobility solutions in public transport.

The Yutong C12E fully electric bus, which has been in operation for two and a half years, undertook a round trip of 285 kilometers from Preston, a suburb of Melbourne, to Kiama, finishing the journey with 50 percent of its battery remaining. During the trip, the bus achieved a power consumption rate of 0.63 kWh/km while navigating various road conditions, including city streets, highways, and mountainous terrain.

Kent Chang, CEO of Yutong Asia-Pacific, highlighted the challenges faced in electrifying public transport, such as mileage limitations, battery safety, charging efficiency, operational reliability, and cost-effectiveness. He stated that Yutong is committed to providing green mobility solutions through ongoing technological and product innovation, with the vision of “Think Eco, Move Green.”

The C12E bus features the Yutong Electric Architecture (YEA) technology platform, which was introduced in September for the Asia-Pacific market. This platform is the first in the industry specifically designed for electric vehicles, integrating both software and hardware in a way that is both evolvable and expandable. It enables the development of a range of new energy and commercial vehicle products tailored to various travel scenarios, aiming to offer customers solutions that are more economical, durable, and convenient.

In addition to the launch of the YEA platform, Yutong Bus organized Green Travel Week in Brisbane, emphasizing the significance of sustainable transportation and community involvement. This initiative seeks to raise public awareness of green transportation alternatives, such as electric vehicles, and contribute to the development of a more sustainable planet. Supported by the Brisbane City Council, the event encourages citizens to embrace eco-friendly travel options while promoting Yutong Bus’s philosophy of leveraging innovative technology to bring the benefits of green transit to communities around the world.
