Yunex Traffic Introduces Innovative Contactless Payment for EV Charging in the UK

Yunex Traffic is introducing an innovative contactless payment option to its electric vehicle (EV) ChargePoint Operator (CPO) clients throughout the UK. The payment process is designed to be quick and straightforward, without the confusion often associated with EV charging payment methods.

The solution is based on a contactless bank card reader and RFID reader, with all instructions displayed on one screen. This eliminates the need for users to navigate multiple parts of the charger to input information, making the payment process fast and convenient.

Wilke Reints, Managing Director of Yunex Traffic in the UK, stated that the company worked closely with partners Gemini 2K and Elavon to develop this fully integrated solution, which is part of Yunex Traffic’s EVCI portfolio and service offerings. The addition of the contactless payment option further broadens the range of products and support services available to the growing EV sector.

For CPOs, the system offers some of the lowest transaction fees compared to other EV charging terminals. The system also enables CPOs to monitor transactions in real-time, conduct live usage analysis, and extract receipts for forwarding to drivers.

For drivers, the new contactless payment option provides a familiar and intuitive experience. The integrated design, with contactless bank card and RFID readers next to a single information screen, ensures a clear and simple payment process. The solution is now available on QC45 chargers and can be added to other hardware solutions with ease. A cloud-based solution, enabling fast retrofitting to existing hardware, is expected to be released soon.

According to Wilke Reints, the new contactless payment solution provides a robust, reliable, and cost-effective system for both drivers and CPOs, with a simple and elegant design.
