BYD’s premium brand, Yangwang, announced that the U9 Xtreme has been officially listed on the Nürburgring Nordschleife production car leaderboard with a certified lap time of 6 minutes 59.157 seconds. The certification formally recognizes the model as the fastest production electric vehicle at the circuit and confirms its “dual first” status for both top speed and lap time.
The U9 Xtreme also achieved a top speed of 496.22 km/h, making it the fastest global production supercar. The previous Nürburgring record for production electric vehicles was surpassed by five seconds, marking the first time an EV has completed the 20.8-kilometer track in under seven minutes.

According to Yangwang, the official listing follows a private test session on October 10, 2025. Despite challenging weather and limited high-speed opportunities, the team secured a validated flying lap that met certification standards. The certified run was driven by German racer Moritz Kranz, a professional with extensive Nürburgring experience, having completed nearly 10,000 laps in his GT racing career.

Yangwang noted that the U9 Xtreme’s record reflects collaboration with Nürburgring officials and TÜV Rheinland, emphasizing the model’s distinctive technical setup compared to other supercars on the leaderboard. The automaker said development and testing of the U9 Xtreme will continue to refine performance and further strengthen the brand’s position in the high-performance electric supercar segment.
