BYD plans to begin the global rollout of its ultra-luxury Yangwang brand in early 2026, with the Middle East set as the first overseas market, followed by Europe and the Americas, according to a report by Chinese outlet Cailian.

The company’s executive vice president, Stella Li, revealed the expansion plan during a media event in Zhengzhou, central China’s Henan province. The move marks a significant step in BYD’s push to position Yangwang as a global premium electric vehicle (EV) marque capable of competing with established luxury brands.

BYD launched Yangwang in China on January 5, 2023, introducing its first model, the U8 SUV, on September 20, 2023. The U8 — priced from RMB 1,098,000 ($154,070) — is among the most expensive models from a Chinese automaker and features BYD’s proprietary e⁴ platform and DiSus-P intelligent hydraulic body control system. The brand later added the U8L (starting at RMB 1,280,000), the U9 electric supercar (RMB 1,800,000), and the U7 luxury sedan (RMB 628,000).

In late September 2025, Yangwang unveiled the U9 Xtreme electric supercar and began taking reservations for a limited run of 30 units worldwide. Earlier, in September 2024, BYD had partnered with Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility Company to open its second flagship store in the United Arab Emirates, showcasing the U8 during the event. At that time, BYD confirmed plans to launch the Yangwang U8 in the UAE in 2025.

BYD has previously indicated its intent to bring the Yangwang brand to Europe in early 2026. In a July 2025 interview with Autocar, Li said the company aims to establish a global presence for its high-end lineup, positioning Yangwang as a symbol of Chinese engineering and design excellence in the luxury EV sector.
