XPeng has announced the first deliveries of its P7i sedan, a facelift of its flagship P7 sedan, in seven Chinese cities. The automaker held delivery ceremonies in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Hangzhou, Chengdu, and Chongqing. Although the company did not disclose the number of P7i vehicles delivered, it marks the shortest time between the official launch and delivery of any XPeng model. The P7i was officially launched on March 10, offering four versions with a starting price of RMB 249,900 ($36,390).
The P7i is built on the regular 400 V platform, but the model has undergone significant upgrades. Its maximum charging power has been increased from its predecessor’s 90 kW to 175 kW, allowing the vehicle to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 29 minutes. The Pro version comes with an Nvidia Orin-X Smart Drive chip with 254 TOPS of computing power, while the Max version includes two Orin-X chips and two LiDARs.
XPeng’s previous model, the P7, sold 59,066 units in 2022, accounting for 49 percent of the company’s annual sales. The P7i has already garnered positive reviews from customers for its smart features, styling, and performance, according to He Xiaopeng, the company’s chairman and CEO. He reported that the P7i has contributed to XPeng’s recent success, with a 100 percent increase in new orders in February compared to the previous month.
XPeng’s comprehensive transformation has helped boost morale and is expected to increase total new orders significantly in March. With the P7i’s popularity, the automaker has seen increased store traffic and test drives. The company is confident that the P7i’s smart features, styling, and performance will continue to make it a popular choice for Chinese EV buyers.
