Xpeng’s Mona M03 Aims to Be the Most Aerodynamic Electric Sedan Ever, Boasting a Drag Coefficient of 0.194 cd

Xpeng is set to launch its latest offering, the Mona M03, which is touted as the most aerodynamic electric sedan in production. With a drag coefficient of 0.194 cd, the Mona M03 boasts impressive efficiency and range-extending capabilities.

The Mona M03’s aerodynamic design features various innovative solutions, including an active intake on the lower front bumper, wind guide plates at the rear, and low-drag wheels. These elements contribute to a 15% increase in efficiency, extending the range by 60 km (37 miles).

Xpeng’s Mona M03 surpasses the aerodynamic performance of other sleek electric sedans, including the BYD YangWang U6 sedan, the Lucid Air, the Mercedes-Benz EQS, the Nio ET7, and the Tesla Model S Plaid. Despite its advanced features, the Mona M03 is expected to be significantly more affordable, with an estimated price of around Ā„150,000 ($20,700).

The Mona M03 is designed to be smaller than other sedans by Xpeng, with dimensions similar to the Tesla Model 3. It measures 4,780 mm (188.2 inches) long and has a wheelbase of 2,815 mm (110.8 inches).

Car News China reports that the Mona M03 will be available with a single electric motor producing either 188 hp (140 kW / 190 PS) or 215 hp (160 kW / 218 PS). The sedan will also feature a BYD Blade battery pack, which uses lithium-iron phosphate technology.

The Mona M03 marks the debut of Xpeng’s Mona (“Made Of New AI”) series, a collaboration between Xpeng and Didi’s EV unit. With its impressive aerodynamic performance, advanced features, and competitive pricing, the Mona M03 is poised to make a significant impact in the Chinese EV market when it launches in the third quarter of 2024.
